Brother Ilham Jaufer is a respected senior member of our community, known not only for his leadership within SLMASA but also for his deep love for sports, especially cricket. He hails from Gampola, Sri Lanka, and is a proud and talented alumnus of Gampola Zahira CollegeAn avid athlete and true “sportama” at heart, Ilham’s presence and energy have left a lasting impact on the Sri Lankan Muslim community in South Australia.

While living in Adelaide, Ilham was an active and dedicated member of SLMASA, serving in key leadership roles including Treasurer and later President. His commitment to community building and service was evident in every initiative he undertook.

In addition to his community service, Ilham is a talented cricketer with a lifelong passion for the sport. This passion, combined with his skill and determination, led to an extraordinary achievement:

This was a proud milestone not just for Ilham, but for the entire SLMASA family. Representing Australia on the global stage, Ilham travelled to Cape Town, South Africa, to take part in the Over-50s World Cup held from March 6–20, 2023.

To celebrate this historic moment, the community came together for a special farewell gathering to honour Ilham’s selection and to send him off with our warmest duas and well-wishes. His achievement brought immense pride and joy to our hearts, and he continues to be a source of inspiration to our youth and fellow members.

Ilham and his family have since relocated to Melbourne to support their children’s higher education. Though they now live in another state, Ilham’s legacy and contributions remain an integral part of the SLMASA story.
