Visit to Iqra College’s Exclusive Community Leaders Gathering

We recently had the honour of receiving a personal invitation to an exclusive gathering of respected community leaders hosted by Iqra College. The event took place on Saturday, 21st June at 11:00 AM, right at the heart of the College campus. Recognising the value of this opportunity, extending the invitation to my team,  Rizwan Nazeemdeen (Secretary), was pleased to join. Together, we attended this insightful program despite the chilly weather on that Saturday.

This special event was designed to bring together Muslim leaders from across Adelaide in a spirit of unity, vision, and shared purpose, particularly in shaping the future for our youth and community in Australia. As Muslims navigating life in a multicultural and modern society, gatherings like this are essential to reconnect with our values while exploring new ways to serve and support the next generation.

Inspirational Speeches and Powerful Messages

The program opened with warm welcomes and a thoughtful address by Chairperson Khaled Dahak, who reflected on the history and mission of Iqra College. We were then fortunate to hear from Dr. Hani Abul Khair and Nur Jannah Kuning, both of whom spoke passionately on topics that touched the heart from educational leadership to identity and resilience among young Australian Muslims.

One of the most engaging moments came from the Director of Innovation, who delivered a fascinating talk on how Iqra College is successfully balancing modern science and technology with Islamic values. His insights into the school’s innovative educational approach were both refreshing and inspiring.

A Walk Through Innovation: The School Tour

Following the talks, we were treated to a guided tour of the campus that was a chance to stretch our legs on a cold morning and explore the impressive facilities firsthand. The tour highlighted many of the school’s standout features, including:

  • A spacious and well-equipped library
  • The “Halal House” kitchen – a welcoming and inclusive food preparation space
  • Modern basketball courts
  • Advanced science labs
  • State-of-the-art classrooms
  • Virtual Reality Lab

Each part of the tour showcased Iqra College’s commitment to creating an engaging, inclusive, and future-ready learning environment for its students.

Connecting with the Community

As with any community-focused event in Adelaide, it was no surprise that we bumped into familiar faces. Among those in attendance were notable figures such as Sheikh Haitham Kabbara, Imam Abdussalam Alim from Wandana Mosque, and many brothers from other local communities. These moments of reconnection and dialogue served as a reminder of the close-knit and collaborative spirit within our Muslim community.

We were also blessed with the opportunity to perform Zuhar salah in congregation (Jamah), a spiritually grounding way to pause and reflect during the day. The event concluded with a complimentary lunch and refreshments, allowing us to further connect over good food and great conversation.

A School Worth Considering

Overall, the program provided deep insight into how Iqra College is not just offering education but building a visionary platform for faith-based leadership and excellence. The range of facilities, the level of investment in innovation, and the focus on student wellbeing and identity development left a lasting impression on me.

If everything we saw and heard truly reflects the day-to-day experience of the students, then I can confidently say that Iqra College is a remarkable option that every Muslim parent in South Australia should consider when planning their child’s education.
This visit reminded me how important it is to support institutions that are planting seeds for the future not only academically, but spiritually and morally. May Allah continue to bless the efforts of Iqra College and all those striving to uplift our community through education.
