Funeral Service

In Islam, attending to funeral rites with dignity and care is a fundamental duty of the community. While living in Australia, it’s essential that we are prepared to fulfill these responsibilities in accordance with Islamic principles. To ensure that our community is well-supported during times of loss, SLMASA has established a dedicated Janaza Committee to oversee and facilitate funeral and burial services.

Recognising the long-term needs of our growing community, a separate team also manages the Sri Lankan Muslim Janaza Fund (SLMJF), a structured, membership-based initiative created to support the funeral needs of Sri Lankan Muslims living in South Australia.

Through this initiative, the community has:

  • Secured dedicated burial plots in Adelaide.

  • Built strong networks with local cemeteries and service providers.

  • Provide required assistance to families during times of bereavement.

The SLMJF operates on a membership basis, and all Sri Lankan Muslims in South Australia are encouraged to register. By becoming a member, you help ensure that you and your loved ones have access to timely, respectful, and Sharia-compliant funeral support when the time comes.

If you would like to know more or apply for membership with SLMJF, please feel free to contact us, we’re here to guide and assist you.
