Giggles & Glitter 2025

Giggles & Glitter, the exclusive ladies’ event 2025 organized by SLMASA, was held on the 30th of August at the Unley Community Centre from 1:30 p.m. onwards. The theme for the event was Arabic and Glitter, perfectly suited for the glamorous Queens and elegant Princesses who attended. Ladies aged 15 and above were recognized as Queens, while those under 15 were celebrated as Princesses.

Over 35 Queens and 17 Princesses attended the event, adding sparkle and elegance to the afternoon. The program began with an Arabic-themed lunch featuring Maqluba, the famous upside-down rice followed by a delicious dessert of Basboosa. A beautiful floral cake prepared by Sister Nazha Nasmi added a special touch to the occasion and was thoroughly enjoyed by all guests.

After lunch, the organizing committee commenced the games segment for the Queens. The first game, Telephone Charades, tested participants’ ability to communicate through actions rather than words. The Queens were divided into two teams, and their creative performances filled the room with laughter. After a close competition, Team 2 emerged victorious with their brilliant portrayal of the action “burning your tongue by eating hot food.”

Next, an informative and spiritually enriching session was conducted by Sister Nazha Nasmi on the topic ‘Motherhood in Islam’, with valuable insights also shared by Sister Hassana Nihuman. Drawing from the Holy Qur’an and Hadith, Sister Nazha emphasized lessons applicable to both mothers and children. The interactive Q&A session allowed participants to reflect and engage deeply with the discussion. As a thoughtful gesture, Sister Nazha distributed dua cards featuring supplications related to parents, which served as a beautiful keepsake for all attendees. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sister Nazha for leading this enlightening session and to Sister Hassana for her valuable contributions.

During the session, guests enjoyed Turkish tea and refreshments, including Turkish delight, mixed nuts, and the delightful baklava prepared by Sister Amra Shiahm perfectly complementing the Arabic theme of the day.

One of the highlights of the event was the ‘Best Dressed Queen’ segment. The judges Sister Hinaya, a senior community member; Sister Zeenath Nauman, a committee member for 2024/2025; and Sister Hashmath Nishad, a former Best Dressed winner had the challenging task of selecting the winners. After much consideration, Sister Shifana Wajhadeen was crowned ‘Best Dressed Queen’, while Sister Zainab Ishan and Sister Hanna Rizvi were awarded First Runner-Up and Second Runner-Up, respectively.

The second and final game for the Queens, Pass the Cup, tested their balance and coordination skills. Participants had to pass a paper cup balanced on a wooden toothpick without dropping it. Teams were reshuffled to increase the challenge, and after a spirited round, Team 1 demonstrated excellent teamwork and emerged as the winners. The last game of the day was dedicated to the Princesses ‘Draw the Tassel on the Lamp’. Blindfolded participants attempted to draw the tassel on a lamp, much to everyone’s amusement. After a close contest, Princess Umaira took first place, followed by Princesses Isra, Ariana, and Liyana in second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. To conclude the event, organizing committee member and host, Sister Zaina Sallay, expressed her gratitude to all attendees for joining “Giggles & Glitter 2025”. She also extended appreciation to the volunteers who helped arrange the venue and to those who generously donated items for the event. The program concluded at 6:00 p.m after a long fun filled day. The organizing committee sincerely thanks all participants for their enthusiastic support and positive feedback on the Ladies’ Event 2025. Insha Allah, we look forward to welcoming everyone again at the next exciting SLMASA event.
